Our treatments
Exercise, prescribed specifically for you
Not a generic handout, exercises chosen because your assessment shows they’ll help, and checked until you’re doing them well.
Exercise prescription means selecting specific exercises based on what your assessment actually shows, a weak hip, a stiff thoracic spine, poor control of a particular movement, rather than handing over a standard sheet used for everyone with similar symptoms. It’s one of the more evidence-supported tools in musculoskeletal care.
At IA Chiropractic, this sits alongside hands-on treatment as a core part of most plans, whether you’re recovering from back pain, managing recurring neck pain, or working on long-term posture and resilience. We keep the number of exercises manageable and check your form carefully, since a well-performed simple exercise usually beats a poorly performed complex one.
This isn’t about replacing hands-on care, it’s the part you take home, working together with Chiropractic adjustments to keep progress moving between visits.
Why patients choose it
Targeted to your assessment
Exercises are chosen for the specific weakness, stiffness or movement pattern found during your assessment.
Supports what happens in clinic
Keeps the benefits of hands-on treatment progressing between visits instead of relying on appointments alone.
Builds long-term resilience
Well-chosen strength and control work can reduce how often issues recur once your current symptoms have settled.
Genuinely manageable
A small number of well-performed exercises, checked for technique, rather than an overwhelming list you won’t stick to.
What a session looks like
- 1
We identify the specific weakness, stiffness or movement pattern your assessment points to.
- 2
You’re shown one or a small number of exercises targeted to that finding, with a clear explanation of why.
- 3
We watch you perform each exercise in clinic and correct technique before you take it home.
- 4
You’re given a realistic frequency to aim for, quality and consistency over volume.
- 5
We check in on how the exercises are feeling at your next visit and progress or adjust them accordingly.
Is it safe? Is it for me?
Prescribed exercise is safe for almost everyone and is one of the more strongly evidence-supported tools in managing musculoskeletal pain. Mild muscle soreness after starting something new is expected and usually settles within a couple of days.
Exercises are adapted for pregnancy, significant deconditioning, older age or coexisting health conditions, and we screen for anything that would change our approach during your assessment. If an exercise consistently makes symptoms worse rather than better, let us know, we’ll modify it rather than have you push through.
