The 5-minute desk setup check
Most “desk pain” isn’t about buying a $2,000 chair, it’s about a few settings you can fix today:
- Screen top at eye level, roughly an arm’s length away, stacked books work as well as a stand
- Elbows at ~90° with shoulders relaxed; raise the chair, not your shoulders
- Feet flat on the floor or a footrest, dangling feet load the lower back
- Keyboard and mouse close enough that your elbows stay by your sides
- The best posture is the next posture: stand, stroll or stretch every 30–45 minutes
